What I bring back from the konbini

The konbini around the corner is somewhere I stop by almost every day. Over time, it turned into a playground for spotting what's vegan without it being shouted on the packaging. This week, three finds ended up in my basket more than once.

Marinated tofu tray

Already seasoned with shoyu and ginger, ready to be cubed onto a salad or dropped into a bowl of rice. Saves a rushed lunch.

Meat-free curry bread

A rarer find: some konbini carry a vegetable version of the famous fried curry bread. The label takes patience to decode, but it's worth it.

Plain soy milk

Not glamorous, but always in the bag: handy for morning coffee or to finish off a sauce.

The konbini wasn't built for vegans, but it leaves just enough room to make it work anyway.
